October 28 of each year Mauritania Day

On October 28, 2023, the Mauritanian Network for Human Rights organized the first ever Mauritania Day in Columbus Ohio, or in the US. The aim of the day was to bring Mauritanians, the community, and organizational partners under the same space to talk about the last 4 years of advocacy, to take a pause, to talk about the challenges, celebrate the wins, and vouch to continue to work together for this great cause.

 It was also important to thank our partner organizations for standing with us in the most challenging times.

During this day, the City of Columbus joined us, to celebrate with us and officially name October 28 of each year Mauritania Day, in honorarium of the Many Mauritanians that have chosen to call Ohio and Columbus home.
