Houleye Thiam participated in a panel discussion where she shared the virtual stage with Oh-district 3 State Rep Joyce Beatty who gave the opening speech and two other co-panelist Rebecca Aguilar, and Sung Yeon Choimorrow.
At this virtual panel discussion Houleye highlighted the issues that Black Mauritanians face on a daily dealing with the US immigration system, as well as the human rights abuse in their home country of Mauritania that made them leave to see asylum in the US and other countries. At this panel discussion Houleye also talked about the issue of legal representation that Mauritanian asylum seekers deal with almost every day, the necessity for the new administration to bring up change to the immigration system soon.
